I have recently been introduced to and had the opportunity to work with boro. Boro is Japanese indigo textiles used for futon covers and the allure is the interesting ways it is mended and reused. The most collectible pieces are the ones that have obvious patches and crude stitching.
My dear friend hired me to make drapes for her closets using boro pieces she has been collecting. Here are some snaps of the results. I think the most exciting part of my job is being introduced to new ideas and techniques...so inspiring!
